Art & Air Committees
Committees and Description of Duties; Steering Committee Chair Positions
Not all areas will function strictly as committees but may be managed by a single chair or co-chairs
Artists: Manages the Zapplication, Jury Process, selection of Artists and all services and communication for the Artists. Works with all other committees to manage all items related to the “Fine Art” aspect of the fair and to meet the needs of the artists.
Entertainment: Manages all aspects of the music and entertainment for the fair; from booking and scheduling performers to the procurement of the stage and sound equipment. Manages all Entertainment at the fair and all items related to events on the stage. Works with Marketing, Development and Decor to create a plan for the recognition of sponsors in the entertainment area. Works with all other committees to manage all items related to the “Fine Music” aspect of the fair.
Food & Beverage: Solicits and manages all food services for Public Consumption. Organizes restaurants, works on menu choices, manages Beverage sales for vendors and for Art&Air (Beer,Wine , soft drink, etc.). Procures all necessary permits and licenses. Works with all other committees to manage all items to ensure the success of the “Fine Food” aspect of the fair.
Financial/Treasurer: Works together with the WCAF Treasurer to manage all aspects of the Budget for the Fair.
Hospitality: Works together with the Artist Committee, the Volunteer Committee and the Development Director to manage, procure and distribute all hospitality for artists, volunteers and steering committee workers.
Marketing and Sponsorship: Works directly with the Vice-Chair of Marketing and the Development Director for the WCAF to develop and execute a comprehensive plan for Marketing, promotion and Public Relations campaign for the Art&Air fair. The sponsorship committee will work with the Development Director to directly promote sponsorship for the Art&Air Fair and its programs and events.
Public Services: This committee manages the procurement and management of all public services such as parking, restrooms/comfort stations, crossing guards, security, safety and trash/recycle collection and removal. Secures contracts for all services for the public, steering committee and volunteers as well as acting at a community liaison for shared services such as traffic control or other such services.
Community Gallery/Schools: Works to include amateur artists as a part of Art&Air fair through school art programs; Elementary, Secondary, College and Post-Graduate. Works with not-for-profit and/or business districts to promote local community organizations and businesses for informational purposes at the fair.
Signage & Decor: Manages all aspects of signage for the Art&Air fair. Street banners, directional signage, yard signs, recognition of sponsorship and donors, and artist identification. Procures all necessary licenses and permits for signage. Organizes and coordinates the “look of the fair” including lighting, aesthetic plan. Together with the Marketing and Site Operations committee creates the aesthetic atmosphere for the fair.
Site Operations: Manages, organizes, maintains and procures all physical site items; Tents, tables, chairs, storage pod, golf carts, electricity, lighting, etc. Works directly with Décor/Signage chairs and Public Services Chair, Studios Chair and all other committees to see that physical needs are met.
Specialty Vendors: Solicits, and manages all non-food & beverage, or art vendors for the fair. Manages their contracts, agreements and insurance in addition to managing their physical and other needs. This committee works to meet the needs for First Aid.
Studios: Manages all aspects of the Interactive art studio. Solicits, manages and coordinates all interactive art vendors or participants, organized art activities, the Art&Air Mural and any other participatory activities. Works directly with the Volunteer Coordinator to fulfill the needs of managing all art/interactive activities and all other committees to ensure a safe and enjoyable interactive art experience.
Volunteers: Solicits and manages all on-site volunteers for the week of the fair; including management of the volunteer database, reaching out to community groups, individuals and sponsors to fulfill the needs for all volunteers. Organizes the scheduling, training and coordination of volunteers for every committee.
